Well as I watch the game getting started at the Frozen Confines I'll update the Cubs Rumors. Ryan Dempster, Billy Williams, Sandberg, and Fergie are all at the game watching the Hawks take on the Red Wings. It's weird to see Wrigley in the middle of winter.
Well lots of rumors going around after the moves yesterday, here's the latest:
- Aaron Miles says the Cardinals jumped in on the last day but by then it was too late.
- The Chicago Tribune expects the Cubs will sign Paul Bako for about 500,000 to replace Henry Blanco as the back up catcher.
- The Indians GM said that DeRosa is a perfect fit for them.
- Yahoo's Tim Brown asked Padres GM Kevin Towers if the Cubs talks for Peavy might get going again soon. Towers said "Doubtful". Tom Krasovic asked the same questions and Towers said, "The Cubs' most recent trades have no bearing or connections with us and the Cubs in a potential Peavy deal."
- Gordan Wittenmyer also reports that the Cubs trade with the Indians had nothing to do with Peavy.
- Tim Brown says the money the Cubs cleared off the payroll will be used to sign Bradley.
- Bruce Levine call the Bradley signing a done deal.
- Wittenmyer says that Cubs still are confident about signing Bradley.
- Paul Sullivan says that the Cubs have been Bradley's number one choice all offseason.
- Jim Hendry told XM Radio that he has not talked with Baltimore about Brian Roberts.
- He also said that the Cubs will go with Fontenot and Miles at second base next year.
- Hendry reveals that he would like to add a left handed bat in the next 7-10 days and maybe a pitcher after that.
- He says he can make 2 more big additions this offseason.
- Marquis to the Rockies will be done when the physicals are passed next week.
- Bruce Miles says that the Cubs may trade Luis Vizcaino who they will get from the Rockies before he even puts on a Cub uniform.
A lot going on today, I'll keep you posted.
