Spring Training Preview: The Non-Roster Pitchers

Today we take a look at the list of non-roster invitees with stats and info about each.

Edward Campusano
  • Left-handed Pitcher
  • Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cubs in 2001.
  • 3-3 with a 6.34 ERA in 34 games at AA in 2008.
  • 2-0 with a 0.59 ERA in in 9 games at Class A in 2008.
  • 5 career minor league seasons, 10 starts, 126 relief appearances.

Esmalin Caridad

  • Right Handed pitcher.
  • Signed as and undrafted free agent by the Cubs in 2007.
  • 6-4 with a 4.41 ERA in 14 games at Class A Daytona.
  • 7-3 with a 3.16 ERA in 14 games in AA.

Andrew Cashner

  • Right handed pitcher
  • Selected in the first round, 19th overall in the 2008 amateur draft by the Cubs.
  • 9-4 with a 2.32 ERA in 30 games with TCU college in 2008.
  • 1-2 with a 5.85 ERA in 8 games (6 starts) combined between Arizona, Boise, and Daytona in 2008.

Chad Fox

  • Right handed pitcher.
  • 10-12 with a 3.60 ERA in 9 major league seasons with the Braves, Brewers, Red Sox, Marlins, and Cubs.
  • 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 3 games with the Cubs in 2008.
  • Missed all of 2006 and 2007 season with an injury.

Ken Kadokura

  • Signed minor league deal with Cubs this off season after playing 12 seasons in Japan.

  • Drafted by the Cubs in the 16th round in 2004.
  • 9-5 with a 4.29 ERA in 27 games (22 starts) at AAA Iowa in 2008.
  • 5 career minor league seasons: 44-29 with a 4.32 ERA.

Rocky Roquet

  • Right handed pitcher.
  • Signed with Cubs in 2006.
  • 4-2 with a 3.70 ERA in 39 games at AA in 2008.
  • 1.74 ERA in 7 games at Class A Daytona in 2008.

Matt Smith

  • Drafted by the Yankees in the 4th round of the 2000 draft.
  • Left handed pitcher.
  • 35 career big league games (with the Yankees and Phillies).
  • 2.55 ERA in Major league career.
  • Played at Class a in the Indians organization in 2008. 10 Games: 1-1 with a 5.06 ERA.

Mike Stanton

  • Left handed pitcher.
  • 19 big league seasons (with the Braves, Yankees, Nationals, Giants, and Reds.)
  • Did not play in 2008.
  • 1-3 with a 5.93 ERA in 69 big league games with the Reds in 2007.
  • 3.92 career ERA in 1178 games.

Bill White

  • Left handed pitcher.
  • Selected by the Diamondbacks in the 3rd round of the 2000 draft.
  • 2 major league seasons, 17 games (with the Rangers).
  • 2008 numbers: MLB: 20.25 ERA in 8 games. AAA: 4-1 with a 3.54 ERA in 50 games.
  • career 9.45 major league ERA in 17 games.
