Cubs Improve to .500 in Cactus League Play

Final Score: Cubs 5, Padres 2

Cubs Starting Lineup Stats:
Soriano: 2-4, Run
Theroit: 2-3, BB, Run
Hoffpauir: 0-3, RBI
Bradley: 2-3, RBI
Ramirez: 2-3
Fontenot: 0-3
Soto: 0-2, BB
Fuld: 0-1, 2 BB, Run

Great job by the "big boys" today. Soriano, Bradley, Ramriez, and Theroit all had multi-hit games. Geovany Soto was back in action today after team Puerto Rico was eliminated from the WBC by Team USA.

Cubs Pitchers:
Atkins: 2 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 R
Marmol: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 K
Gregg: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 K
Waddell: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB
Guzman: 2 IP, 0 H, 3 K, 0 ER
Hart: 1 IP, 1 ER, 2 HBP, Save

Kevin Gregg and Carlos Marmol are having great springs. Gregg has yet to allow a run! Let's hope the guys that will pitch late in the game stay hot as we move into the regular season in 2 weeks. Strong performance by Angel Guzman who is fighting for a spot in the bullpen. Guzman is out of options. Kevin Hart got the save, despite hitting the first to batters in the 9th.

Cubs Bench Hitting:
Blanco: Run
Taguchi: 0-1
German: 1-1, RBI
Guzman: 1-1
Bako: 0-1
Miles: 0-1
R. Johnson: 1-1, 2-run homer
Scales: 0-1
Reed Johnson's 2-run homer was the difference in the game. 13,162 was the attendance today. That's an all time Cactus League record!

Game Highlight: Johnson's 2-run big fly in the 4th to put the Cubs ahead 4-2.

My Player of the Game: I'm going to go with Kevin Gregg. He's been pitching so great I have to recognize him again. I'm very impressed!

Up Next: Cubs VS White Sox in Glendale tomorrow at 3:05 CT.

The Cubs are now 12-12 in Cactus League play!

It's always great to hear Pat and Ron calling the game!
I'll keep you posted on everything Cubs as always.
