Cubs Starting Line-up Stats:
Theriot: 2-3
Miles: 0-3
Johnson: 1-3
Fox: 1-3, Run
Fontenot: 2-3, Run
Deeds: 0-3, RBI
Robnett: 0-2, RBI
Bako: 0-2
The two teams did not use a DH for today's game. Theriot and Miles each had 2 hits, but other than that the bats were quiet in the loss.
The Pitchers Stats:
Dempster: 2 IP, 2 H, 3 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 1 K
Fox: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER
Stanton: 1 IP, 0 ER
Berg: 1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER
Roquet: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB
Hart: 1 IP, 0 ER, 1 K
Mateo: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 K
So the pitching wasn't bad, it was the defense that hurt the Cubs with errors by Fox, Theriot, and Miles. Jake Peavy looked sharp for the Padres allowing just 1 man to reach base in 3 innings.
Cubs hitters off the Bench:
Barney: 0-1
Scales: 0-1
Fuld: 0-1
M. Johnson: 0-1
Clevenger: 0-1
Taguchi: 0-1
Snyder: 0-1
The game wasn't very interesting today. I listened to it on Gameday Audio with former Cubs broadcaster Andy Masur and 2 other Padre broadcasters on the call. How come the game wasn't broadcast yesterday? The Cubs won 13-0, it was against the Sox, Soriano played, Lee played, Ramirez played, Heilman made his Cubs debut, and Gregg made his Cubs debut. Anyways, the Cubs bench went a combined 0-7 today.
Game Highlight: Jake Peavy, who the Cubs pursued all off season, tossed 3 innings allowing 0 Runs on 1 Hit.
My Player of the Game: Mike Fontenot who went 2-3 and had the only 2 Cubs extra base hits in the game (both doubles). He also scored a run.
Up Next: VS Arizona tomorrow @ 2 PM CT.
